Thank you to Academy families, teachers, volunteers, businesses and community members for making this year’s tutti! event a success!  With your help, we raised more than $31,000 for the Academy’s scholarship fund.  This includes the income generated from our brand-new online auctions.  The event on February 3rd was attended by a record number of Academy families and community members who enjoyed delicious desserts, beautiful music, and stimulating conversation.  We hope to see you at next year’s event on Friday, February 1st!

Tutti! is almost here!  Friday, February 4th from 6-9 pm is sure to be a fun evening; we hope you can join us in the Warch Campus Center at Lawrence Univeristy.  Bon Appetit will provide delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.  The evening will feature performances by Academy staff and students, a bountiful silent auction, and a live auction featuring a 2010 Packer football, a Kohler getaway weekend, and more!  Our raffle winners will take home a $2,000 travel voucher for a fabulous vacation, an iPad, a moped, and cash.  Try your hand at putting to win a golf package, or purchase a box of chocolate that might contain a $100 gift certificate for jewelry!  If the weather is cold, park near Emmanuel United Methodist Church and let our shuttle service take you to the campus center.  If you have children aged 4-12, don’t hire a babysitter, bring them to our KidZone, located just beneath the gala and staffed by Academy teachers and high school Girl Choir students.  Would you like to attend the university’s Jazz Band/Symphonic Band concert at 8 pm?  Join us for an hour or two first!  In addition to enjoying a lovely evening out, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to provide music instruction to those without adequate financial means.  All proceeds of the evening’s event will go to the tutti! scholarship fund, the primary source of tuition assistance at the Academy of Music.

Tutti Raises Over $25,000

Our fourth annual tutti! scholarship event is now history and what a splendid evening it was in the new Warch Campus Center at Lawrence University. Over $25,400 was raised at the event Saturday, October 24, 2009, to assist many of our struggling families afford music instruction for their children.

The Matt Buchman and Mark Urness combo kicked off the evening with cool, soothing jazz followed by a fabulous Big Band musical review played by the LU Jazz Band. The Academy Faculty String Quartet then serenaded us as we sipped wine and partook of delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by Bon Appetit. Emcee Scott Rezin enthusiastically engaged the crowd, keeping focus on the various activities and opportunities available for everyone’s participation. As Dean Brian Pertl said, “It was a beautifully run and organized event. Everyone did such a spectacular job. The whole world should have been there.”

Winners of the great raffle prizes were Mike Ray, Mike Evarts, John Mayville, Ken Donnermeyer and Alyson Chapman. Event prize drawings went to Keith Powell, Julie Martin, Patty Darling and Trudy Whitenack.

Special thanks to the Steering Committee who devoted considerable time, talent and energy to this worthwhile cause: providing scholarships for families who would not otherwise be able to afford music instruction for their children. When asked why Lawrence Academy of Music students like to make music, Rebecca, age 13, replied, “I like to make music because it makes me feel like I am bringing something good into the world.” Christian, age 16, said, “It enriches my life and it helps me make others’ lives better. Music is very special. Making music lights up everyone’s day.” That makes it all so worthwhile.

The Steering Committee is already hard at work planning next year’s tutti! where we will again utilize the impressive campus center. The date is Friday, February 4, 2011 so please mark your calendars NOW so you don’t miss out on what promises to be another incredible evening; great live entertainment, fabulous prizes, tasty food, delicious wine and much more.

Onward we go “sustaining beautiful music for all!”

Tutti: Sustaining Beautiful Music for All!

We are very busy gearing up for tutti! – our annual scholarship fundraiser – to help provide affordable music instruction to children and families throughout the Fox Valley. The need, as evidenced by the increasing number of applications for assistance, has never been greater.

The gala event is Saturday, October 24 in the new Warch Campus Center overlooking the Fox River on the Lawrence University campus. Best views of the river – guaranteed! Please come join in the festivities from 6-9 p.m. Win a chance in the raffle top prize of a $2,000 travel voucher – doesn’t that sound wonderful as we endure these gray, rainy days in Wisconsin! Door prizes, silent auction items, great food and wine from Bon Appetit, and entertainment provided by the Lawrence Jazz Band; Mark Urness and Matt Buchman jazz combo and the Academy faculty string quartet. Hope to see everyone at tutti! – “sustaining beautiful music for all.”
