Last weekend marked the first time since the inception of the award that the Lawrence University Hockey team took home the Battle of Highway 41 trophy. The award is presented to the team that sweeps the Maian/Lawrence series each year. If the teams split the series, then a shoot out is conducted. Lawrence was victorious in an overtime thriller 3-2 on Friday night and then followed that up in convincing fashion with a 6-2 victory on Saturday. The traveling trophy (that weighs in at 40 lbs!) will be proudly displayed at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

The Lawrence University Softball team recently took it upon themselves to finish a job that had been started by the Hockey team. They volunteered their time to complete painting the hallway in the basement of Alexander Gym that leads to the Study Lounge. The Baseball team also aided the process during the week. Their efforts have helped to enhance the facility and continue the positive progress in improving Alexander Gym. The ladies did an outstanding job … and a their efforts will be enjoyed by all who utilize Alexander Gym.
The Viking Department of Athletics thanks you all for you time, effort, and obvious desire to make Alexander Gym a great place to be!

Not only are the Vikings play some great volleyball on the court, they are also serving the community and helpuing in a big way.
Over the past few weeks, members of the Lawrence University Volleyball Team worked to assist in the effort to fight cancer. By selling T-shirts throughout campus, the team managed to raise $425! This money will be donated to the Appleton Medical Center – Cancer Center.
Congratulations to the team on their efforts!

The Lawrence University Men’s Hockey team took some time away from the rink this fall to lend a hand at Alexander Gym. They volunteered to do some painting in a hallway that will soon become a wall of tribute and recognition honoring Lawrence teams of the past. The initial stage of this renovation includes painting this area. The guys did a fantastic job and we appreciate their time!
