The Lawrence Softball women hosted an Alumni Game this past Sunday and it turned out to be a phenomenal event for all involved. Coach Tatro highlighted just a few of the special moments:
Highlights of the weekend for our Alumni Team:
•Molly Bouressa goes 2/4 at the plate and is the best negotiator I have ever met ….not a bad catcher either.
•Justine Garbarski makes her debut on the mound and holds the current team scoreless in one inning pitched (photos to prove it). She had a couple of hits too.
•Tara Carmody (in her favorite snow boots) and Christine Brice (in her favorite sun glasses) make their debut as coaches of the alumni team….sorry ladies, you’re winless with a 7-2 loss.
•Becca Reason can still play as she “schools” several LU first year players into base running mistakes. She is still pretty quick too as was evident by her performance. You will be pleased to learn that she emailed me after the game is quite a bit more sore than she thought she might be.
•Jenna Reichel still has it as well, but finds a way to make a couple of innings very interesting (photos to prove it).
•Toren Johnson wins the award for best outfit of the day (and best outfit for the night before our game).
•Hillary Cheever continues to defy the odds and disregard doctors orders….not bad for 2 surgeries in 2 years.
•Carrie VanGroll is STILL a freshman in college and we love her for it…..I’d take her back in our line-up any day.
•Megan Butterbrodt will forever where Clintonville Trucker gear….
•Lucy Bouressa….the youngest player on the alumnae team…..it was nice to have her join us.
•Erica White, Class of 2002 was the oldest alumnae to play in the game and I would without a doubt take her on our current team any day of the week as she can flat out play. Her swing still scares me!
