New Sound System Rocks Alexander Gym

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

The students, faculty, staff, friends, family, and alumni of Lawrence University will be in for a treat when they come to cheer their fellow Vikings to victory beginning next fall at the Alexander Gymnasium.  With the support of President Beck and Lawrence University Administration, the Alexander Gymnasium has recently installed a state-of-the-art sound system to enhance the atmosphere during Viking Athletics home contests.

The system was put into place by Arrow Audio – the same company who has been involved with the audio systems in the chapel and in the Warch Campus Center.  Their work has been excellent and this project is no different.

The Lawrence University Athletic Department is looking forward to the home-court advantage created by the new system next year and in years to come!

Sophomore Nick Kerkman broke the Hammer throw school record this weekend with a toss of 44.22 meters (145′ 1″) breaking the old record held by Mike Pierquet of 43.41 meters(142′ 5″) set back in 2006. Congratulations to Nick on this accomplishment!   Best of luck to the entire track team in the upcoming Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships at Illinois College!
