Summer Research Interns at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation

Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation has openings for Summer Research Interns in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The program selects up to 11 full-time, paid undergraduate/graduate research fellowships each year. The opportunity lasts 13 weeks and the student gains hands-on experience with medical research projects and exposure to medication education on a variety of topics. Summer Research Fellows are each assigned to a mentor. The mentor may be a health or research professional from any department in our health system. Under the mentor’s guidance, and with the help of Department of Research support staff, Fellows complete a research project. At the end of the summer, Fellows present their findings in a PowerPoint at a noon conference attended by staff, Fellowship benefactors, and invited friends and family.

Summer Research Fellow also have the opportunity to shadow physicians. Possible clinical areas include: Adult Hematology & Oncology, Surgery, Cardiology, Community & Preventive Care Services, Neurosurgery Infectious Disease, Microbiology, Sports Physical Therapy, Pediatric, Hematology & Oncology, and Nursing Education/Research.

Hennepin County: Environmental Health Internship

Hennepin County Human Services & Public Health Department Epidemiology and Environmental Health is seeking full-time, Summer 2011 Environment Health Interns. This position is a full time position that is paid $12.94 per hour. Students who are majoring in Environmental Health, Public Health or a related field are encouraged to apply by March 25, 2011.

Duties: Under the direction of a Registered Sanitarian (R.S.), interns will inspect public swimming pools; collect water samples from wells and public beaches; inspect vending machines; become knowledgeable in other environmental health programs to assist with educational outreach and other duties as directed. Opportunities may be available to do directed projects if they fall within the scope of our program.

Target is looking for Business Analyst Interns for summer 2011. Business Analyst Interns are based at Targets headquarters in Minneapolis.
As a Business Analyst Intern, you’ll learn how to apply your financial, analytical and communication skills to impact the bottom line. You’ll see how Business Analysts negotiate and maintain business relationships with the largest vendors in the industry and benchmark the competition to stay on top of the latest trends in merchandising and how they may apply at Target. You will manage and present a project on an assigned topic, such as: cost and inventory analysis to maximize relationships with key vendor partners, developing assortment or guest segmentation strategies to maximize sales for different regions or seasons, and determining the benefits of single store prototype presentations.

Fox Valley Symphony: Development Intern for Winter and Spring Term

The Fox Valley Symphony (FVS) seeks a development intern. The FVS development intern will have a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience working for a small non-profit arts organization and engage in meaningful projects to help the FVS fulfill its mission. The development intern will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Assist with organization of the Association of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestras One Day Workshop, hosted by the Fox Valley Symphony at Lawrence University’s Warch Campus Center in Appleton on May 6, 2011. Participate in discussions regarding workshop content and structure. Assist and lead logistics for the workshop related to publicity, registration process, speakers, exhibition space, sponsorships, technology, etc.
  • Research and compile data related to development and marketing functions (e.g., researching possible funding sources, media sources and compiling information from other non-profit organizations)
  • Assist the director of development in event planning including pre- and post- concert events, young professional events, donor relations events and a large fund raising event to be held in April
  • Assist in creating and distributing press releases to local media outlets
  • Assist in the coordination of monthly board and committee meetings
  • Assist in the maintenance of the donor database, Sage
  • Assist with other administrative duties as assigned
