Masculinity, martyrdom, slavery, visual spectacle, and national identity will be examined Monday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the address "Death on Display: The Martyred Male Body in Civil War Visual Culture." Focusing on the many images in paintings, lithographs, photographs and other media, Elizabeth Young, associate professor of English and American studies at Mount Holyoke College will discuss visual representations of the male soldier in the Civil War.

The presentation, in Main Hall 201, is free and open to the public.
