The “Big Gay Conference” – in Madison This Year

The annual Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLTACC) is going to be hosted this year by UW-Madison February 19-21. It is a largely student-run and planned conference that is attended by students/staff/faculty from all over the Midwest. Past conferences (Minneapolis, Indiana State etc.) have drawn 1500-2000 participants. This year’s keynotes are: Kate Bornstein, the well-known author, playwright and performance artist who’s most recently published book is: Hello Cruel World–101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks, and Other Outlaws; Mia Mingus (a queer disabled woman of color, South Korean transracial adoptee, organizer and one of the Co-Executive Directors of SPARK Reproductive Justice Now); and Loren Cameron (a transgender activist and artist). We are lucky that UW-Madison won the bid to host. The conference will be at the Monona Terrace Convention Center. For more info, see http://lgbt.wisc.edu/mblgtacc/.
