Sunday, April 17th was the 50th anniversary of Elda Anderson’s death. She was the chair of the physics department at Milwaukee Downer, worked at Los Alamos and was present at Trinity. The only two women who have received tenure in physics at Lawrence (including the merger of Downer College and Lawrence College in 1964) have been Elda and well, me.
Helen Boyd will be speaking at UW@ Stevens Point this Wednesday, April 13th, at 5PM.
Lawrence University (and Gender Studies) is happy to announce the addition of “gender identity” to its Non Discrimination Agreement.
In doing so, it joins 377 other colleges and universities that have done so, including the 26 campuses of the UW system, as well as Viterbo University in LaCrosse, WI.
“Sexual Orientation” was added as a non-discrimination category in the early to mid 1990s.
The actual language can be found in Lawrence’s Employee Handbook.
