Easter Seals Wisconsin is a non-profit organization providing programs for children, youth and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. The Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Center, a year-round program in a camp setting, provides people with complex developmental disabilities with weekend and week-long recreational opportunities – such as arts, canoeing, sports and games, a ropes course — while their families get a break. Easter Seals Wisconsin is looking for 10 energetic people to serve as a team to provide recreation and care for children, youth and adults who attend respite weekends. Responsibilities include: provide ideas for, plan and lead camp programs; assist campers to participate fully in activities, such as arts, sports and games, and swimming; accept responsibility for the overall health and safety of the campers; and assist, instruct and supervise campers in personal care skills. Members receive training on how to provide recreation and care for pe
ople with disabilities, CPR, first aid, conflict resolution, and civic participation. AmeriCorps members receive room and board during training and weekends at camp and a living allowance of $1,250 for serving approximately seven weekends (from 3:00 p.m. Friday to 3:00 p.m. Sunday) between September 10, 2010 and January 18, 2011. In addition, upon successful completion of all training and service requirements, AmeriCorps members will receive an education award of $1,132 that can be used to pay for college or to repay student loans.

DUTIES: The Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), a consortium of 14 liberal arts colleges in Illinois,

its off-campus study programs. The ACM Recruiting Assistant position is a part-time, temporary

Position Description:

and over see sign in process.
- Assist in facilitating Cavity Free Zone curriculum as indicated by supervisor. 50 youth should complete the
program by October 1. Session attendance including age and name should be recorded.
- Complete weekly inventory of kitchen supplies including cleaning solutions, gloves, plates, cups, bowls, forks,
etc. that are utilized for Club meals. When necessary, purchase supplies and submit purchase order to Health &
Education Coordinator.
- Select youth of the month based on Club member helpfulness, attitude, and overall involvement in the HLS
department. Provide YOTM to Unit Director or Director supervisor as requested.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen daily. Secure volunteers or junior staff to clean facility each day, or ensure that
cleaning is completed. Ensure dishes are cleaned and put away each night. All products should be off the floor at
all times, and appliances should be cleaned weekly.
- Submitting Weekly Activity Reports to the Health and Education Coordinator by Tuesday of the Week following the
week being reported on.
- Distribute and document food for Backpack for Kids program weekly. Maintain records on the k:drive weekly.
- Coordinate Health fair in October at Lutsey Unit with assignments as indicated by Health and Education Director.
- Assist with coordinating Club efforts with regards to the back to School Store in August. Attend event and
represent Club as needed.
- Maintain fun and inviting atmosphere in program space. Prepare purchase orders for room decor, and
atmosphere throughout the year.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchase of supplies and equipment with supervisor approval.
- Work with staff on special events to carry out programs.
