Vikings Athletes Honored The Lawrence University Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame grew by seven during an induction ceremony on Oct. 14, 2011, at the Warch Campus Center. The founders of Lawrence University had a grand vision and, throughout the college’s history, its leaders have been steadfast in their commitment to building a reputation as much more than a small liberal arts college in Appleton, Wisconsin. In the 21st century, Lawrence University is among the leading liberal arts institutions in the nation, and is included on a short list of “Colleges that Change Lives” in a book written by the late college-consumer advocate and respected education journalist, Loren Pope.
But Lawrence’s mission and, indeed, its success, are evident beyond the borders of Appleton and the United States. There can be no mistaking the global impact of Lawrence University or the fact that the Lawrence community is truly worldwide.

Lawrence athletics had another great year with its student athletes excelling on (and off) the field. A highlight: women’s basketball gets a new head coach!
Mike “Skudder” Szkodzinski took the reins of the Lawrence men’s hockey program in 2006. In 2009, he added the title of acting athletic director to his resume.
