Works Submissions

The Submissions Portal is now CLOSED.

SEAMUS 2012 has extended the submission deadline to October 15, 2011 [from October 1].

Submissions will be handled online through the SEAMUS Online Portal at http://www.seamusonline.org/seamus-2012-submission/.

Please read the important information below before submitting your work.

• Members of SEAMUS in good standing will be allowed to submit up to 2 submissions per category (music and paper).

• Individuals who are not current members of SEAMUS in good standing will be allowed to submit up to 2 submissions per category (music and paper) for a fee of $15.00 per submission.  The submission fee may be paid by check (made out to Lawrence University).  Mailing details will be sent after the submission form is completed.  The submission fee is non-refundable.

• All submissions must be prepared for anonymous adjudication. Any text that identifies the composer/author (including bios, text indicating commissions or dedications, copyright notices, page headers or footers, etc.) must be removed from the submitted score or abstract. Any submission that includes text identifying the composer/author will not be considered for programming. A non-member whose submission does not adhere to the anonymity requirement will not receive a refund for his/her submission fee.

Music Submissions

Performance materials should be zipped and named according to “LastnameFirstname.zip.” Kindly include in the zip archive one or more of the following documents as is appropriate to your submission: (1) a stereo mix in MP3 format; (2) a PDF score (if applicable); (3) a PDF technical description for cases of complex or unusual technical requirements; (4) a 500-word abstract for Concert Music plus Poster submissions.

Please note that judging of music submissions for SEAMUS 2012 will be from audio files in the MP3 format. Multichannel works will be judged from a stereo mix, also MP3. Please assist us by submitting in this format. High-quality and multichannel formats will be requested at a later time for works to be programmed.

Video Submissions

Video submissions will be accepted as links from a video hosting site (such asYouTubeVimeoArchive.org, etc.) Please note that SEAMUS 2012 recognizes that these submissions will likely not be anonymous.

Concert Music plus Poster Submissions

Composers who wish to submit to this special category must include their 500-word abstract in their zipped archive in the Music submission and should select the Piece plus Poster category in the submission form.

8.1 speaker configurations

• SEAMUS 2012 plans to provide two distinct 8.1 configurations for works specifically composed for an 8.1 channel system (and its subsets: 5.1, quad, etc.), and works that are intended to be diffused over a multi-speaker system.

• A diagram of each configuration appears below:

8.1 circular

8.1 L/R banks

• Composers submitting works specifically composed for an 8.1 channel system will be asked to choose one of the following:

– 8.1 circular
– 8.1 L/R banks
– any 8.1 (i.e. no preference, either 8.1 circular or 8.1 L/R banks)

• Composers submitting works that are intended to be diffused over a multi-speaker system will be asked to choose one of the 8.1 channel configurations described above and will also be asked if the composer is willing to forego the diffusion of his/her work and present it on a 2.1 system.

• Note that SEAMUS 2012 will make every effort to accommodate each participant’s speaker configuration request, but cannot guarantee each request will be granted. In the event that a composition is selected for programming, but the composer’s speaker request cannot be granted, SEAMUS 2012 will contact the composer to discuss alternate programming options.
