Pro-Vaccine: Educating Elementary Students About Vaccines and Vaccine Hesitancy
My product is a lesson plan for older elementary school students about vaccine immunology and vaccine hesitancy. The goal of this lesson plan is to inform students about how vaccines work and why they are important, and to make them aware of the potential dangers of vaccine misinformation. This relates to my research on mRNA vaccines because a public community more aware of vaccine immunology and vaccine misinformation may be more willing to accept existing vaccines and new vaccine technology. The lesson plan integrates lecture-style presentation, worksheets, activities, discussions, and articles designed for students. I will be testing out the first part of this lesson plan with two groups of students and getting their feedback on what worked well and how it can be improved.
