Surgery Lounge Volunteer – Orthopedic, Spine, & Pain

Role of the Volunteer – The Surgery Lounge Volunteer assists the Orthopedic, Spine & Pain (OSP) staff in the care of patients and guests.

Hospitality

  • Provide a comfortable atmosphere for guests of patients who are having procedures.
  • Provide patient and visitor information and directions.
  • Provide patient transport within volunteer guidelines.
  • Maintain coffee service and offer refreshments to those in the lounge area.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly appearance to the Volunteer Desk and lounge area.

Patient/Visitor support

  • Escort or direct guests to the consultation rooms or lounge area.
  • Provide directions and general information regarding OSP wayfinding.

Staff support

  • Assist staff in locating guests in the lounge area.
  • Receive calls from nursing to assist with bringing families back to peri-op rooms, consult rooms, and escort to in-patient area as needed

Responsibilities of all volunteers

  • Follow the standards of the ThedaCare volunteer program and ThedaCare policies and procedures.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain scheduled hours of service.
  • Attend new volunteer orientation and complete annual volunteer in-service.
  • Promote safety.

Reach Counseling Volunteer Advocate

Reach Counseling is a sexual assault service provider for children and adults that offers culturally responsive outreach, prevention education, victim advocacy, trauma counseling and sex offender treatment. As an anti-violence agency, we strive to heal lives and transform communities.
All volunteers must be over 18 and should have compassion and empathy for others. Volunteer Advocacy

Reach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual abuse and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Advocates. Volunteer Advocates are on call nights, weekends, and holidays when the Reach office is closed.

Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Winnebago County. Advocates provide these services over the phone or in person at a local hospital. Advocates work alongside medical and legal professionals to ensure survivors are supported while navigating these processes, reducing further trauma and re-victimization while tending to a survivor’s emotional needs.
