Lawrence University conducted COVID-19 surveillance testing during the 2021-22 academic year to help mitigate the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of its campus community. All students, faculty, and staff living, learning, or working on campus were tested upon arrival in August 2021. Weekly surveillance testing was conducted throughout the academic year. A percentage of our Lawrence community was selected randomly for testing each week. Varsity athletes were tested routinely per NCAA guidelines.
The data below reflects administered tests and cases between August 16, 2021, and August 14, 2022. Please see definitions below for further information.

Lawrence administered COVID-19 surveillance tests to asymptomatic Lawrence community members, including Bon Appétit employees. Testing groups were determined by campus and community epidemiological data at that time. Symptomatic testing of students was conducted in the Wellness Center as needed.
Following NCAA guidelines, unvaccinated student athletes who practiced or competed participated in increased testing. These test results were also included in the on-campus testing numbers.
