Move-Out Instructions

As all students, except those granted a petition to stay, are required to move out of their on-campus housing by Sunday, April 5th at 12:00pm, please ensure that you are following all move-out instructions outlined below.

Please also note that if you choose to leave the Fox Valley area for any portion of Spring Break, you will not be allowed to return to campus so you should be making plans to complete all move-out requirements prior to leaving the area.

All students will be required to complete an Express Check-Out Process, which entails removing all personal belongings from your room and leaving your room in the condition you found it upon move-in.  Charges may be assessed for any personal items, garbage, etc. left behind in the rooms.  Once this process is complete you will need to return your key to hall staff by placing your room key (and bike room key if applicable) in an EXPRESS CHECKOUT ENVELOPE, labeled with your name, room number, and time of departure.  If you do not return a key, your room lock with be replaced and you will be assessed a $75 charge.  If you are currently missing your room key, please still turn in a filled out express checkout envelope once you have completed your move-out to indicate to us that you have departed campus.

Express Checkout Envelopes can be picked up at Residence Hall Front Desks, in House/Loft Entrance Areas, and in the Office of Residential Education and Housing.  Express Checkout Envelopes, once a move is completed, should be returned to a hall staff member at Residence Hall front desks, slid under your RHD’s OFFICE door, or left in the drop box to the left of the entrance to the Residential Education and Housing Office.

We recognize that this required move-out is happening on relatively short notice, so we would like to provide support in assuring that your room can be left in the condition required of move-out (all personal items will need to be taken home with you, stored in a designated on-campus storage location, or thrown away in the outside dumpsters).  Since many students may be limited on the number of items they can travel with on short notice, we will be offering expanded storage across campus.  This means that additional storage spaces have been identified in each hall so that we do not run into the issue of storage rooms becoming full.  This also means that you will be able to store whatever it is that you are unable to bring home with you (as many boxes/bags as needed, small furniture items such as futons, etc.).  All storage items will need to be labeled with a storage tag and stored in an orderly fashion according to staff directions.  Storage rooms will be staffed daily during the duration of Spring break (3/19 – 4/5) from 10am-12pm, 2pm-4pm, and 7pm-9pm.  If you are unable to access storage during these times and need to store something in order to leave, contact your Residence Hall CA duty phone or Campus Safety.

Please note that we are asking all family members or others who may be traveling to campus to bring you home to remain in their vehicles upon arrival and not to enter the residence halls.  We will be providing some staff support during move-out to assist you with removing items from the hall should you need additional help.  The times that extra staff will be available are as follows: Tuesday, March 17th 9:00am – 5:00pm; Thursday, March 19th 9:00am-5:00pm; Saturday, March 21st 11:00am – 3:00pm; Wednesday, March 25th 9:00am – 5:00pm; Friday, March 27th 9:00am – 5:00pm.

We appreciate your help and cooperation in following all move-out instructions outlined above to make this as smooth a process as can be for everyone involved in what may be a hectic time for many.
