Vikings land three on All-MWC volleyball team

Three Lawrence University volleyball players have been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team.

Clare Bohrer (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) was a first-team selection, and Kathleen Rowland (Champaign, Ill./Central) and Diane McLeod (Hartland, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial) were both named to the second team.

Bohrer, a senior middle hitter, was chosen for the second consecutive season. Bohrer paced the Vikings with 108 kills in conference play and averaged 3.27 per set. She also led the Vikings with 39 blocks, an average of 1.18 per set. Bohrer also picked up 41 digs and eight aces.

On the season, Bohrer piled up 287 kills for an average of 2.87 per set. She had a team-high 104 blocks and averaged 1.04 per set. Bohrer also had 24 aces and 95 digs. Bohrer finished her career with 1,062 kills, which ranks fifth in Lawrence volleyball history.

Rowland, a sophomore defensive specialist, was chosen for the team for the first time. Rowland, the team’s libero, paced the Vikings with 190 digs, an average of 5.76 per set. She also tied for the team lead with 10 aces in conference play.

Rowland  finished the season with 627 digs and averaged 5.55 per set. Rowland was second on the team with 27 aces.

McLeod, a sophomore setter, won the honor despite missing the final three conference matches due to injury. McLeod piled up 231 assists in conference play for an average of 10.50 per set. McLeod also picked up 60 digs, 14 blocks and seven aces in league play.

For the season, McLeod finished with 736 assists and averaged 8.98 per set. She also tied for second on the squad with 27 aces. McLeod added 190 digs and 38 blocks.

Lawrence finished the season with a 13-19 record and a 5-4 mark in conference play.
