The Lawrence community is invited to the May 13 inauguration of President Laurie Carter in Memorial Chapel and a May 14 community celebration that will be highlighted by a Brighter Together Picnic on Main Hall Green.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to register for the inauguration ceremony. The light-filled celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13. Inauguration ceremony tickets require advanced registration. The ceremony also will be livestreamed at go.lawrence.edu/inauguration.

A day of celebratory events will follow on Saturday, May 14, marking both this historic inauguration and the 175th anniversary since Lawrence’s founding in 1847. The festivities include a Brighter Together Picnic on Main Hall Green from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (followed by a closing ceremony), featuring food, live music, games, other entertainment, and a community resource fair with area nonprofits that have been partners with Lawrence through the years. Our neighbors in Appleton and the greater Fox Cities are being invited to gather with the Lawrence community on campus. The day also includes various exhibits, productions, and student, faculty, and alumni presentations. Details of the day’s events can be found on the inauguration page at lawerence.edu.

The May 13-14 weekend will be one of the signature events of the year-long 175th celebration.

We hope you’ll join your fellow Lawrentians for this historic and celebratory weekend.
