320 E. College Avenue Update

The process of selling the former bank building at 320 E. College Avenue continues. While this process was expected to conclude in the fall, negotiations between the City and developer remain ongoing and a closing date has not been set. This sale does not envision changes to Lawrence-owned parking immediately to the north of that building.

Drop-in Lunch w/ Anne Jones

Join us on November 13th from 12:00-1:00pm in Chapman Hall, room 202 – bring your own lunch and come chat with Anne Jones, Interim Director of the Center for Career, Life, and Community Engagement (CLC). This is an informal event, come and go as you please.

Employee Resource Group Fall Social

Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to the Employee Resource Group Fall Social on Tuesday, November 13 from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Wriston Art Center. Employee resource groups aim to increase cultural awareness and create a greater sense of community and connection among employees. We are delighted to provide a space for those who identify as emerging professionals, LGBTQIA+, employees of color, and/or international employees to learn more about these resource groups and build community amongst each other.

Refreshments will be provided. Please click here to RSVP https://www.lawrence.edu/alumni/first-reunion/erg-fall-social/. We look forward to seeing you there!

Warmly,

The Employee Retention Subcommittee of the President’s Committee on Diversity Affairs

Social Media Update

Stephanie Bray, our associate director of social media, will be leaving us on Friday, November 4, to take a new position in digital marketing at Associated Bank. While she will no longer be working full-time at Lawrence, she will continue to work with us remotely as a social media consultant during our transition to a new social media manager.

Please join us in thanking Stephanie for helping us expand the university’s social media presence and wish her well in her new role.

Annual Canned Food Drive

Members of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee will be visiting the academic buildings as well as administrative offices to collect donations for their Annual Canned Food Drive this next Thursday, November 8th during convocation hour (11:00-12:00).

All donations, cans or money, will be accepted and given to Blessings in a Backpack,  a non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States who currently are fed during the week on the federally funded Free and Reduced Meal Program and are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. Anything that you are willing to contribute is appreciated.

If you are not going to be available during that time but would like to donate, please feel free to leave donations with a colleague who will be available, or email madeline.a.maclean@lawrence.edu to set up an alternative time for pick up.

Thank you! And Go Vikes!
