LU Food Pantry is Temporarily Closed for Relocation

The LU food pantry is temporarily closed so that we can manage the relocation process.  Please do NOT leave donations at the Esch Hurvis Center for Spiritual and Religious Life as we are in the process of relocating the pantry to a more accessible location.  The pantry will be coordinated by some new folks in its new location.  Watch for updates here.

Join us at the Community Engagement Fair this Friday!

Join us on Friday, September 17th for our Annual Community Engagement Fair! We’ve invited nearly two dozen of our community partners to campus to showcase their very good work in the Fox Cities.

Come and chat with representatives from some of our oldest and closest partners to discover how you might engage in service during your time at Lawrence.
In addition to tables and activities hosted by our partners, there will be carnival style games, food trucks, live music, and a chance to win a $50 gift from Amazon! The first 300 Lawrentians to register at the event will also receive a coupon for a free fruit pop from Fox Pop!

Festivities start at 5:30pm at the Quad. If it is raining-we will have the fair set up in the Esch Hurvis Room (2nd floor in Warch Campus Center)

See you there!

Help Welcome the Newest Lawrentians to Campus!

New Student Orientation will officially begin next week, with the arrival of new students and families on Wednesday, September 8, and Thursday, September 9. In honor of this historic return to campus,  members of our community are invited to join Student Life in welcoming the newest Lawrentians to campus.

There are many opportunities to participate in New Student Orientation activities and celebrations:

  • Greet our newest Lawrentians as they arrive on campus! We are looking for faculty and staff to join us on Wednesday, September 8, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 9, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, to welcome new students and families to campus and answer any questions they may have. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up by Thursday, September 2, at 5:00 p.m. If you can’t volunteer, download these welcome posters to hang on your office window or door.
  • Show your pride in Lawrence University by wearing a Brighter Together t-shirt during New Student Orientation. Every faculty and staff member can pick up their shirt on Friday, September 3. Stop by the patio outside the Warch Campus Center with your LU ID between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (One shirt per person, please.)
  • Join us at the annual President’s Welcome, which will take place on the Main Hall Green this year. In my remarks, I will ask all members of our community to turn and face new students and their families as a symbolic matrix of support, so please come and position yourselves on all sides of the gathering. There’s plenty of room for all members of our community to join the festivities. Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 9 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Kick-off the academic year at President Carter’s first Matriculation Convocation in Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 17. If you can’t attend Convocation in-person, it will be livestreamed on the Lawrence website.

We are Brighter Together. Thanks for helping Lawrence shine.

The VR just got healthier

You can now drink your beer and have your vegetables too! SLUG and the VR are teaming up at summer “Happy Hour”, Wednesdays 4-6 PM. SLUG produce will be for sale on the patio and with the VR special summer prices (most beverages $2) you’ll have plenty left over to buy some healthy a delicious vegetables. Need an excuse to go to the VR, how about you are going to the campus produce stand instead!

Help us clear the taps

As is tradition, we will be clearing out the kegs from the VR on the Wednesday following reunion (June 23rd). Please join us in the Viking Room 4-6 PM for complimentary beverages. No need to bring money except maybe to give Angela a tip for working behind the bar. Please enter through the Viking Room patio on the south side of Memorial Hall.
