As we approach Ramadan

Ramadan is an important time of fasting, reflection and prayer for the Muslim community.  Lawrence will support the efforts of those in our community who are celebrating this special time and nourishing their practices.

Iftars at Sabin House will be hosted as a breaking of the fast, by invitation or accompaniment of an invited guest.  Additionally, Grab&Go food will be made available beginning Tuesday, May 15th for those who wish to plan ahead to break their fast.

We ask the respect of the community in not partaking in the offered Grab&Go food unless you are fasting during this time.

Assist your Muslim friends in support of their fasting and enhance your own interfaith vocabulary and understanding throughout Ramadan, which ends around June 14th.

Additional details are available via our Facebook page at LU Spirit Space

Spiritual Practices and Self Care

Take care of yourself

Yoga could do it, but if yoga isn’t your thing, maybe meditation is.  Alone or in a guided group, its a connective and centering time just for you.

Not a meditator?  Gotta set a voice to your brain baggage?  Check in with a staff counselor, friend, or a trusted adviser to let some clarity in.

Not vocal, but kinesthetic instead? Ditch the sofa and feel the warm sand volleyball court on your feet, the pavement under your wheels, and the sun on your skin.

Find a jam session, start a jam session, cook, dance, recite, walk, pray, close your eyes and listen while you drum, air guitar, air bow, strike a favorite chord, play a theater game, sing, play cards, do a handstand push-up, break out a board game, take up space.

Take a moment to simplify and breathe.

Fourth Friday Lunch Tomorrow 4/27

Come to the Fourth Friday Lunch to discuss the question: How does the “more than human” world enhance or challenge your spiritual life?

Staff and faculty are welcome to join us for a fresh salad and yummy soup plus great conversation.  Speak, listen, contribute by your presence, or maybe encourage a friend to join you.  It’s a great time to get out and walk across campus, enjoy your coworkers, and move your mind to a casual contemplation. It’s refreshing.

No RSVP required. Sabin House Kitchen.  Noon to 1pm, April 27th.
