BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit College women’s basketball team rallied from down double digits in the first half to post a 71-64 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Saturday at Flood Arena.
Kandace Fox scored 18 points and Lauren McNanna added 14 to lead Beloit (4-7, 1-5 MWC).
Chioma Ejimkonye led Lawrence (1-9, 1-4) with 17 points, and Kassidy Rinehart added 13. Alex Deshler chipped in with 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for the Vikings.
Lawrence jumped out to an early lead, and the Vikings went on a 6-0 run, capped by four consecutive points from Bethany Hoster, to lead 15-5 with 13:31 left in the first half.
The Vikings built that lead to as many as 13 points and led 26-16 after a pair of Deshler free throws with 5:43 left in the opening half. Beloit then hit its next five shots from the floor and closed out the half on an 18-3 run to grab a 34-29 lead at the half.
Lawrence trimmed Beloit’s lead to 44-43 after Amber Lisowe’s three-point play with 13:49 left in the contest. Beloit then scored the game’s next nine points to retake control.
Beloit built its lead to as many as 13 points, and the Vikings trimmed the lead to six on two occasions but could get no closer.
Lawrence returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Carroll University.
