Vikings pick up four individual titles at LU Triangular

APPLETON, Wis. — Four Lawrence University swimmers were winners on Saturday as the Vikings took on Lake Forest College and Carroll University in a triangular at Boldt Natatorium.

Lake Forest was perfect on the day as the Foresters defeated Carroll and Lawrence in both the men’s and women’s meet. On the women’s side, Lake Forest topped Lawrence 124-99, and Carroll defeated Lawrence 118-97. In the men’s competition, Lake Forest downed Lawrence 150-46 and Carroll topped Lawrence 129-78.

Hannah Gabriel, Paige Witter, Taylor Winter and Hayley Cardinal were all winners for Lawrence.

Gabriel won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.18, and Witter was second in 2:01.44. Witter grabbed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.68. Winter took the top spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:23.91. Cardinal cruised to a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.17.

Lawrence’s top finishers on the men’s side were Grant Wilkie, who was second in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.76, Charlie Mann, who was second in the 50 freestyle in 22.79, and Stephen Salansky, who was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.37.
