APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University men’s basketball star Ryan DePouw has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
DePouw (Oconto, Wis./Oconto), a junior forward, averaged 24 points and eight rebounds per game as Lawrence won a pair of games this past week. DePouw shot 65.2 percent (15-23) from the floor, including 57.1 percent (4-7) from 3-point range, and 93.3 percent (14-15) from the foul line in the two games.
DePouw scored a career-high 27 points in Lawrence’s 77-68 win over Cornell College on Saturday and posted a double-double with 12 rebounds. He also picked up three assists, two blocks and a steal. DePouw was two points better than his previous career high, which was 25 points at Illinois College on Nov. 25, 2012.
DePouw scored 21 points, grabbed four rebounds, handed out five assists and picked up three steals in Lawrence’s 97-83 win at Beloit College this past Wednesday. DePouw also picked up five assists and three steal against the Bucs.
DePouw, who was honored as the Player of the Week for the first time in his career, is averaging 15.3 points and 4.8 rebounds this season while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor and 81.9 percent from the foul line.
The two victories kept Lawrence’s hopes for a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament alive. Lawrence is in fifth place, one game behind Carroll University, with two games left to play.
