WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University football team pounded out 436 rushing yards en route to a 76-7 Midwest Conference North Division victory over Lawrence University on Saturday at Schneider Stadium.
Lamont Williams ran eight times for 192 yards and three touchdowns to pace Carroll (6-0, 2-0 MWC). Williams scored on runs of 50, 55 and 70 yards. Bennett Kothe added 102 yards on 11 carries for the Pioneers.
Carroll also picked up a special teams touchdown when Nick Curtis blocked a punt and Dan Verhagen returned it 32 yards for a score. The Pioneers also got a defensive touchdown on Ryan Klapper’s 42-yard interception return.
Carroll quarterback Kyle Burlingame threw only nine passes, completing seven for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Lawrence’s lone score came early in the fourth quarter when Taylor Mandich grabbed a 24-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Schuh.
Schuh completed 12-of-30 passes for 114 yards and one interception for the Vikings (2-4, 1-1). Mandich caught five passes for 77 yards.
