Ley leads Vikings to fourth after opening round of MWC Championships

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Nathan Ley carded a 78 on Thursday to lead the Lawrence University golf team to fourth place after the opening round of the Midwest Conference Championships at Aldeen Golf Club.

Ley is tied for fourth place after shooting the 6-over par round on the par-72 layout at Aldeen.

Lawrence has a team score of 332 and is in fourth place. Carroll University leads the standings at 311.

Lawrence’s Nigel Schuster is tied for 11th at 81, and Anton Olsson (85) and Austin Frank (88) rounded out the scoring for the Vikings on the opening day.

The second round is set for Friday, and the 54-hole tournament concludes on Saturday.

Vikings finish ninth at St. Norbert Invitational

WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. — The Lawrence University golf team finished ninth at the St. Norbert College Invitational at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links.

The Vikings recorded a team score of 356 on Sunday to complete the 36-hole event. Lawrence’s score of 725 was just four shots behind eighth-place Lake Forest College.

The top player for the Vikings was Nigel Schuster, whose score of 175 was good for a tie for 33rd place. Nathan Ley shot the low score of the tournament for the Vikings with an 84 on Sunday. He finished in 39th place.

Vikings ninth after first round at SNC Invitational

WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s golf team is in ninth place after Saturday’s opening round of the St. Norbert College Invitational at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links.

Nigel Schuster led the Vikings with a first-round 88 on the par-72 layout at Royal St. Pat’s. Ryan Eardley fired a 90, Ryan Clark was at 93 and Nathan Ley carded a 98.

Lawrence finished with a team score of 369. Carthage College leads at 317.

Schuster takes 12th at Midwest Preview Meet to lead Vikings

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Nigel Schuster finished tied for 12th to lead the Lawrence University golf team at Sunday’s Midwest Conference Preview Meet at Aldeen Golf Club.

Schuster carded a 7-over par 79 on the par-72 layout at Aldeen, which will host the conference championships next month.

Anton Olsson shot 83, Nathan Ley carded an 89 and Ryan Clark shot 90 to round out the scoring for Lawrence.

The Vikings finished sixth with a team score of 341. St. Norbert College won the title with a score of 298.

Schuster, Olsson lead Vikings at Lawrence Invitational

GREENVILLE, Wis. — Nigel Schuster fired a 78 and Anton Olsson came in at 79 to lead the Lawrence University golf team at Saturday’s Lawrence Invitational.

Schuster grabbed fifth place with his 6-over par score on the par-72 layout at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Olsson’s 7-over par round was good for a tie for sixth place.

Also scoring for the Vikings were Nathan Ley (93) and Ryan Clark (94). Lawrence’s Austin Frank, playing as an individual, shot 89. Lawrence finished with a team score of 344.

St. Norbert College won the event with a score of 311, and Carroll University’s Henry Mulvey was the medalist with a 74.

Olsson takes eighth at Forester Invitational

VERNON HILLS, Ill. — Anton Olsson paced the Lawrence University golf team with a tie for eighth place at the Forester Invitational on Sunday.

Olsson fired a 4-over par 76 at White Deer Run Golf Club and finished six shots off the pace set by P.J. Clemins of Concordia (Wis.) University.

Lawrence finished ninth in the team standings with a score of 345. Concordia won the title at 302.

Nigel Schuster shot 84, Ryan Clark carded an 88 and Ryan Eardley shot 97 to round out the scoring for the Vikings.

Olsson ties for seventh at Wisconsin Lutheran

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Anton Olsson tied for seventh place on Saturday to lead the Lawrence University golf team at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational.

Olsson shot a 4-over par 76 at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha. Pete Kaufmann of Wisconsin Lutheran won the event with a 73.

Lawrence finished 13th in the team standings with a score of 347. Benedictine (Ill.) University won the team title at 305.

Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were Nigel Schuster (84), Ryan Eardley (92) and Nathan Ley (95).

Olsson ties for seventh at Elmhurst

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Lawrence University golf standout Anton Olsson tied for seventh place on Thursday at the Elmhurst College Invitational.

Playing the par-72 layout at Oak Brook Golf Club, Olsson fired a round of 77 to lead the Vikings. Larwence, playing without standout player Rudi Pino, finished sixth with a score of 345. Carthage won the title with a score of 301.

Rounding out the scores for Lawrence were Nathan Ley (87), Nigel Schuster (88), Ryan Clark (93) and Ryan Eardley (95).

Olsson grabs fifth place at MSOE Invitational

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — Lawrence University golf standout Anton Olsson grabbed fifth at the MSOE Invitational on Monday.

Olsson carded a final-round score of 76 on the par-71 layout of the Highlands at Grand Geneva. Olsson shot a career-low round of 70 in Sunday’s opening round and finished with a 36-hole total of 146.

Central College’s Desmond Stoll won the tournament with a score of 144. Central won the team title with a score of 590. Lawrence finished seventh at 643.

Rudi Pino was the next finisher for the Vikings as he took 25th with a score of 156. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were Nigel Schuster (tied 45th, 165) and Nathan Ley (tied 58th, 176).

Olsson cards career-low round to grab lead at MSOE Invitational

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — Anton Olsson carded a career-low round on Sunday to grab a tie for first place at the MSOE Invitational.

Olsson fired a round of one-under par 70 on the par-71 layout at the Highlands at Grand Geneva. He is tied with Lakeland College’s Connor Clark. This is the best round of Olsson’s career, surpassing the 74 he shot at St. Andrews Country Club in West Chicago, Ill., at the Benedictine Invitational and the 74 he carded at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, Wis., at the Marian Invitational.

Lawrence had a team score of 317 and is tied for fifth place but is just two shots away from being in solo third. Rudi Pino fired a 76 and is tied for 13th place for the Vikings. Nigel Schuster is tied for 33rd after shooting 81, and Nathan Let is tied for 60th after shooting 90.

The tournament wraps up with the final round on Monday.
