Vikings rally from two sets down to top Carroll

APPLETON, Wis. — The Lawrence University volleyball team put together a stunning rally on Wednesday night to beat Carroll University 3-2 in a Midwest Conference match at Alexander Gymnasium.

Lawrence (5-12, 1-0 MWC) defeated Carroll (4-13, 0-1) 8-25, 21-25, 29-27, 25-23, 15-7.

Terese Swords and Kayla Storm led Lawrence with 12 kills apiece. Andrea Wilkinson added 10 kills, Betsy Sorensen added nine and Megan Conley had eight for the Vikings.

Sydney Nelson picked up 27 assists and 20 digs for Lawrence, and Lauren Ray had 25 assists. Cyra Bammer paced the Vikings with 23 digs, and Noelle Hele added 22.

After getting routed in the first set and dropping the second set, the Vikings were on the brink of a loss in the third set. Lawrence was down 24-20 in the third set before winning the next four points to tie it at 24-24. Lawrence then fought off two more match points before reeling off the final three points to win the set 29-27.

The Vikings then tied the match at 2-2 after holding off a Carroll rally in the fourth set. The Vikings led 23-18 before Carroll went on a 5-1 run to trim the lead to 24-23. Storm picked up a kill to close out the set for Lawrence.

The final set was tied 5-5 before Lawrence ripped off nine consecutive points to lead 14-5. Storm ended the match with a kill for the Vikings.

Kelly Sloyan led Carroll with 18 kills, and Taylor Kuehl piled up 50 assists. Jenna Shea had 33 digs for the Pioneers.

Lawrence doesn’t play again until it hosts Knox College on Oct. 3.

Stritch rallies to top Lawrence in five sets

APPLETON, Wis. — The Cardinal Stritch University volleyball team rallied from two sets down to beat Lawrence University 3-2 in a nonconference match on Saturday at Alexander Gymnasium.

Cardinal Stritch (6-12) rallied to win the match, which was part of the Lawrence Triangular, 25-27, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15, 15-9.

Breanna Schaedel led Stritch with 15 kills, and Michelle Schuh and Gabrielle Bobinsky added 14 kills apiece.

Terese Swords paced Lawrence (4-12) with 14 kills, and Arianna Cohen added 13. Lauren Ray picked up 27 assists, and Sydney Nelson added 18. Cyra Bammer and Noelle Hele had 19 digs apiece for the Vikings.

Vikings fall to Edgewood in three sets

APPLETON, Wis. — The Edgewood College volleyball team was great on the attack Saturday and defeated Lawrence University 3-0 in a nonconference match at the Lawrence Triangular inside Alexander Gymnasium.

The Eagles (5-8) beat Lawrence (4-11) 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.

Edgewood hit .333 for the match, with Jordan Winkler leading the way with 14 kills. Kaelyn Kessel added nine kills for Edgewood.

Lawrence, which hit a very respectable .250 for the match, was led by Arianna Cohen. The freshman hitter had 13 kills and no errors on 22 attempts for a .591 hitting percentage. Terese Swords added nine kills for the Vikings.

Lauren Ray picked up 22 assists, and Sydney Nelson had 11 for Lawrence. Cyra Bammer picked up 13 digs, and Betsy Sorensen had four aces for Lawrence.

UWSP tops Vikings

DE PERE, Wis. — The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team downed Lawrence University 3-0 in a nonconference match on Wednesday at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Pointers (11-2) defeated Lawrence (4-10) 25-10, 25-18, 25-11. The match was part of the St. Norbert College Quad.

Terese Swords paced the Vikings with five kills. Sydney Nelson led Lawrence with nine assists and Cyra Bammer had 15 digs.

Vikings fall to unbeaten UW-Oshkosh

DE PERE, Wis. — The UW-Oshkosh volleyball team pushed its record to 13-0 on the season with a 3-0 nonconference win over Lawrence University on Wednesday at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Titans won 25-18, 25-11, 25-22 as part of the St. Norbert College Quad.

Betsy Sorensen, Arianna Cohen and Terese Swords paced the Vikings (4-9) with five kills apiece. Lauren Ray led the Vikings with 13 assists, and Cyra Bammer picked up 16 digs.

Katelyn Malcheski led the Titans with 13 kills, and Morgan Cizauskas had 31 assists.

St. Scholastica tips Lawrence in three sets

OSHKOSH, Wis. —  The College of St. Scholastica volleyball team topped Lawrence University 3-0 in a nonconference match on Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.

The Saints downed Lawrence 25-21, 25-19, 25-12.

Kayla Storm led Lawrence (4-8) with seven kills, and tied for team-high honors with eight digs. Megan Conley added six kills, and Betsy Sorensen had five for the Vikings.

Lauren Ray paced the Vikings with 15 assists, and Sydney Nelson added 10. Cyra Bammer, who was named to the all-tournament team, picked up eight digs for Lawrence.

Lawrence powers past Finlandia

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Lawrence University volleyball team used a balanced attack to power past Finlandia University 3-0 in a nonconference match at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic on Saturday.

Lawrence defeated the Lions 25-14, 25-10, 25-10.

Lawrence (4-7) was paced by Rachael Wuensch and Terese Swords, who had five kills apiece. The Vikings hit .312 for the match as 12 players had at least one kill apiece.

Lauren Ray handed out 14 assists, and Cyra Bammer paced the Vikings with 11 digs. Ray, Kayla Storm and Noelle Hele had three aces apiece for Lawrence.

Maranatha Baptist hangs on to top Lawrence in five sets

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Maranatha Baptist University volleyball team pushed its record to 10-0 on the season with a five-set nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.

The Sabercats downed Lawrence (3-7) 17-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 15-12.

Terese Swords paced the Vikings with 14 kills, and Megan Conley added nine. Lauren Ray picked up 26 assists and 14 digs, and Sydney Nelson added 23 assists for Lawrence. Cyra Bammer collected a team-high 15 digs.

Lawrence sting Yellowjackets in five sets

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Lawrence University volleyball team knocked off UW-Superior 3-2 in a nonconference match on Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.

Lawrence (3-6) downed the Yellowjackets 28-26, 24-26, 26-24, 18-25, 15-10.

Terese Swords paced Lawrence with 14 kills and a .414 hitting percentage. Arianna Cohen picked up 11 kills and Betsy Sorensen added 10 for the Vikings.

Lauren Ray directed the Lawrence attack with 28 assists and Sydney Nelson added 21. Cyra Bammer picked up 28 digs, and Rachael Wuensch added 18.

Swords, Cohen power Lawrence past Raiders

APPLETON, Wis. — Arianna Cohen did the damage in the first two sets, and Terese Swords spurred the Lawrence University volleyball team to win the fourth set in a 3-1 nonconference victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday at Alexander Gymnasium.

Lawrence (2-6) defeated the Raiders (3-2) 25-11, 25-22, 16-25, 25-20.

Swords paced the Vikings with 10 kills, and Cohen added eight kills. Megan Conley picked up six kills, and Kayla Storm had five kills and 13 digs for the Vikings.

Lauren Ray led Lawrence with 20 assists, and Sydney Nelson had 17 assists. Cyra Bammer had a match-high 20 digs for the Vikings. Betsy Sorensen led the Vikings with five blocks, and Storm and Cohen had three blocks apiece.

Sarabeth Haworth and Maria Bintz had 12 kills apiece for MSOE, and Abby Born picked up 35 assists.
