Spring break is over, done, gone with the wind, finito! It was such a great break though! I returned to Washington D.C. to spend time with my family friends again, the last time I was there I was really busy but this time I finally got to do a D.C tour. My goodness that city is beautiful, the monuments, the parks, the restaurants, the United States White House! I am definitely going back for the summer, I absolutely can’t get enough.
Well, just like every holiday that comes to an end, a new trimester begins. Yes, it is finally SPRING TERM. The first week was actually pretty cold and it snowed a bit, but second week brings with it sun and wonderful weather. It’s time to pull out the thousands of flower tops and dresses, and the sunglasses and flats!
The greatest event that started off my trimester was the Career Conference. Last weekend I registered for a Mock Interview and Resume Review for the LU Scholars in Business program through the Career Center. The Career Center hosts a Career Conference every year, the conference consists of a number of sessions set up to allow students to explore career possibilities of different majors by speaking with visiting alumni. The mock interview was conducted by Mr. Bradford Aspgren ’84 who is the Senior Vice President at American Airlines Federal Credit Union. The interview went really well and he gave me some great advice and I was really grateful for his honest and constructive criticism. I am now more confident about concurring the coorperate finance field with my resume and coverletter. Right after the interview, I went to lounge about with my friends.
This trimester is going to be great, no doubt about it guys! I will be doing a lot of volunteering, and I will be giving you all a sneak peek into some of my meetings. I will be busy at work too, working 20 hours a week is exhausting, good thing I actually love all my jobs. I will definitely be making time to relax and hangout, so tons of pictures coming soon with my friends and I as we gallivant around campus doing fun activities. This trimester could probably have the best combination of classes I have ever taken. I am taking International Trade, Macroeconomics and Meditation and Virtue; Yes! Meditation and Virtue! Inhale……………and exhaleeeeee. My Meditation and Virtue professor, Professor Boleyn-Fitzgerald, has instructed that every day we jot down five things we are grateful for; well I might as well do my entry for the day right now.
I am very grateful for:
1. Netflix, which allows me to watch shows that started six seasons ago and will definitely be finished in two weeks.
2. The $10 bill I found in the back pocket of my jeans this morning, even after doing laundry the bill is still intact–I think I can use it, right?
3. Ramen Noodles. Who cares if I am consuming a salt block’s worth of sodium–that’s the tastiest 25-35 cents I have ever had in my entire life!
4. Student Discounts:Clothes, food, attractions and everything else good in life are more expensive as an “adult.” I have never been this excited in my life to be a student!
5. MY EDUCATION. No matter how stressed I get, how many all-nighters I pull-off effectively, or how many times I complain about doing my work, I feel incredibly grateful to be in college. A small percentage of the world has the honour of being a college graduate and there is nothing more to be happy about when you get your degree. Most importantly, I am happy and grateful to be a LAWRENTIAN.
This task is honestly one of my favourite things to do in the day!
Well that is it from me for now everyone. Till next time.
Totsiens!
