“I still remember tasting that biscuit and hot gravy during brunch and making the decision that yes, I’m going to come to Lawrence!”
Yep, that’s exactly what one of my friends had to say about our Sunday brunch. It is indeed something to be proud of. You can see community members filling the Commons- kids, babies, parents, guests and many more…Students sometimes get lost in the chaos. There are so many people here on Sundays!!!
The Sunday Brunch is one of our Lawrence delicacies, and it’s served right in our own cafeteria. There is such a variety of food items- bread, biscuits, sausage, gravy, bacon, yogurt, pastries, fruits, eggs, hash browns, French toast, waffles…and the list goes on and on and on. I’m serious.
Many conversations take place over the meal, be it catching up with friends that you don’t see during the busy week or just trying to fill your stomach from sleeping until noon. The air is filled with laughter and chatter, and sometimes, we’ll have a band playing in the corner. All of this, to make your Sunday better. (Yes, Lawrence takes into consideration how special Sundays are to you. Seriously…)
Personally, brunch is my favorite meal of the week. The French toast is to die for! So are the waffles topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries! I really did not imagine having such good food in college. Sometimes, people will just sit in the commons until it closes. It is so difficult to get out of a conversation or stop going for another round of food. The food is fresh, locally produced and made with care.
One of the highlights of brunch is the “build your own omelet” station. Currently, due to the shortage of eggs in the U.S., we do not get to have it every week, but Bon Appétit makes arrangements to bring it at least twice a month. You choose the ingredients that you want in it, and it will be prepared right in front of you! And this is undoubtedly the busiest station of all.
There are many different options to choose from. An opportunity to taste an array of food and have a great meal! Many students, faculty, parents and staff members approve this message (Yes, I have asked around). So, if you are visiting campus, or happen to be around Appleton, drop by. Come eat brunch with us in the commons. An unforgettable experience awaits you…
