Post-Spring Break!

by Emily Wendorff on April 3, 2014

It’s third term, yay! After the ridiculously cold winter that we had this year, I am so excited for it to finally be spring! Getting above freezing outside feels fantastic…Anyways…spring break: My spring break this year was rather uneventful, but still great. I got to go back home to Madison and see my family and my dog, Presto. He’s a whippet (kind of in between Italian Greyhound and Greyhound in appearance) and although he’s 13 years old, he is still just like a puppy in most ways, just slowed down a tiny bit. Getting to see pets in general over break was great because I do not have a pet on campus! I got to see plenty of cats, too, which also warmed my heart. Clearly, I am an animal lover. Going home, I realized that I have found a lot of different ways outside of music and academics to entertain myself in my free time than I used to have. When I turned on the TV, something that I would have mindlessly done before to spend my time, I found that I really didn’t like watching it as much. I spent a lot of time outdoors on this break, which is something that I didn’t do on the break that I had my Freshman year. Walking the dog, running, and hiking were a few of the things that I did outside that I don’t get to do as much during hectic times at school like finals week. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my bike back home, though, so I didn’t get to enjoy the nice weather on two wheels! Overall, I got to relax a lot and read a book that I had been meaning to finish as well. Spending time with my family and parents was really nice.  Even though my parents can get on my nerves every once in a while, I missed them! After coming back to school, I was immediately busy, but that is something that I love about being here. On the first day of classes I had quite the whirlwind, not getting into one of the classes that I was waitlisted for…it was packed! I redid my schedule, however, and I am quite happy with it now knowing that I can take that class next year anyway. I am definitely keeping myself busy so far this term for only being on campus for four days so far, but I am definitely having a good time even though I am working hard. It was nice to have a break, but it is also great to be back on campus doing all of the things that I love to do here at Lawrence as well as seeing all of the people that I love to spend time with!
