Lawrence University safety Robbie Ulloa has been chosen as the Midwest Conference Defensive
Player of the Week.
Ulloa (Burlington, Wis./Catholic Central) earned the award after a big game in Lawrence’s 33-12 victory over Knox College last Saturday. Ulloa, a junior, posted a game-high eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.
Ulloa’s biggest play of the contest came in the game’s opening minutes. Ulloa scooped up a fumble by Knox quarterback Bill Meyer and raced 66 yards for his first career touchdown just 1:30 into the contest.
Ulloa also sacked Meyer later in the first quarter and forced a fumble that he recovered deep in Lawrence territory.
Through two games, Ulloa has a team-high 17 tackles and leads the team with 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it hosts defending conference champion Monmouth College at 1 p.m. in the Banta Bowl.
