Bohrer picks up MWC Player of the Week award

Lawrence University volleyball standout Clare Bohrer has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.

Bohrer (Eau Claire, Wis./Regis), a junior middle hitter, turned in a great week as Lawrence posted a 2-1 record. The Vikings handed Monmouth College its first conference loss and also rallied to beat Illinois College.

In a 3-1 victory over Monmouth, which was 6-0 in the MWC, Bohrer had 18 kills and hit .389 for the match. Bohrer also had a school-record 12 blocks, breaking the record of 11 set by Kayte Hansen in 1999, three digs and two aces.

In a 3-2 victory over Illinois College, Bohrer had 20 kills, three blocks, three digs and a pair of aces. In a 3-0 loss at St. Norbert College, Bohrer had 11 kills, five digs and one block.

Bohrer, picking up MWC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career, piled up 49 kills, a .324 hitting percentage, 16 blocks, 11 digs and four aces for the week.

The Vikings (12-14, 3-4 MWC) return to action on Friday when they host Beloit College in a conference match at Alexander Gymnasium.
