Lawrence swimmers sweep Ripon, Marquette

The Lawrence University swim teams made it a clean sweep on Saturday with victories over Ripon College and Marquette University at the Lawrence Triangular in Boldt Natatorium.

The Lawrence men defeated Ripon 153-44 and downed Marquette 150-45. On the women’s side, Lawrence topped Ripon 162-31 and defeated Marquette 120-77.

Evan Flack and Cameron Gmehlin both won a pair of events for the Vikings. Flack won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.75 and the 100 freestyle in 50.13 seconds. Gmehlin won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.69 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.70.

Other winners for the Lawrence men were: Peter Brengel (100 backstroke), Ted Chritton (500 freestyle) and Jake Zimmerman (1-meter diving).

Julia Heller paced the Lawrence women by winning the 200 freestyle in 2:07.13 and the 100 backstroke in 1:09.19. Also winning for the women were Becca Hamlyn in the 100 butterfly and Bree Pittman in 1-meter diving.
