Lawrence University men’s basketball standout Erik Borresen has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Borresen (West Bend, Wis./Living Word Lutheran) picked up the honor after a pair of big games during Lawrence’s trip to Florida before Christmas. In the two games at the Cruzin’ Classic, Borresen averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists, three blocks and 1.5 steals. Borresen hit on 19 of 28 shots from the floor for a 67.9 percent clip.
In Lawrence’s 89-80 loss to No. 14 St. Mary’s (Md.) College, Borresen scored a career-high 30 points and hit on 13 of 19 shots from the floor, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range. He added five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals.
In a 61-59 loss to Manchester College, Borresen scored 12 points, on 6 of 9 shooting from the floor. He added nine rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal.
On the season, Borresen is averaging 15 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the floor.
Lawrence returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game.
