Lawrence University hockey player Gustav Lindgren has been named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Freshman of the Week.
Lindgren (Stockholm, Sweden), a rookie forward, picked up a goal and five assists in Lawrence’s weekend sweep of Northland College.
Lindgren picked up his first career goal and assisted on the game-winning goal in Lawrence’s 5-3 victory over the Lumberjacks on Friday. He then assisted on four of Lawrence’s six goals in the Vikings’ 6-2 victory over Northland on Saturday.
Lindgren now leads the team with six assists and seven points through four games this season. He has helped the Vikings to a 3-0-1 record.
Lawrence returns to action on Thursday and Friday when it faces Marian University in a home-and-home series. Thursday’s game is set for 7 p.m. at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
