Vikings fall to St. Scholastica

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — The College of St. Scholastica broke the game open in the second period and went on to a 6-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Saturday at the MCHA/NCHA Thanksgiving Showdown at the Blue Line Ice Center.

The Saints (5-2-1) scored four consecutive goals in the second period despite Lawrence (3-2-3) holding a 14-11 advantage in shots during that 20 minutes.

St. Scholastica scored just 5:38 into the game on Alex Valenti’s goal and made it 2-0 with just 2:07 left in the first period when Carter Davis scored.

The Saints then scored four times, including once on the power play, in the first 14:28 of the second period to put the game away. Paul Zuke got Lawrence on the board with his second goal of the season at the 16:48 mark of the second.

Six different players scored for the Saints, and Brett Corcoran had a goal and two assists.

Colin Rundell stopped 30 shots to get the win for St. Scholastica. Anton Olsson played the first 34:28 and allowed all six goals for the Vikings. Peter Emery came on in relief for Lawrence and made 11 saves and didn’t allow a goal in the final 25:32.

Lawrence returns to action next weekend when it travels to Finlandia University for a weekend series with the Lions.
