MEQUON, Wis. — The Lawrence University hockey team dominated the play on Saturday night, but the Vikings had to settle for a 2-2 overtime tie with Concordia (Wis.) University in a Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association game.
Lawrence (1-0-1, 1-0-1 MCHA) built a 2-0 lead, but Concordia (0-5-1, 0-3-1) scored twice in the final period to force the overtime. The Vikings outshot Concordia 59-33.
Sam Johnson got Lawrence on the board when he scored on the power play at the 14:54 mark of the second period. The Vikings made it 2-0 when Brad Scurfield took a pass from Phil Bushbacher and scored 1:59 into the third.
Concordia evened the score on goals from Russell Johnson at 3:33 and Brandon Bayer at 11:19.
Freshman goaltender Anton Olsson made his Lawrence debut and stopped 31 shots. Josh Lehr made 57 saves for Concordia.
