Big second half leads seventh-ranked Pointers past Lawrence

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The No. 7 UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team used a big second half to record a 74-38 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Saturday night at Berg Gymnasium.

Cassie Bandow paced the Pointers (10-0) with 15 points and Brittni Buechel added 10.

Amber Lisowe led Lawrence (1-8) with 15 points and she grabbed five rebounds. Alex Deshler and Presley Neuman both added six points and tied for game-high honors with seven rebounds.

The Pointers led by as many as nine points in the first half before the Vikings rallied. Stevens Point led 16-7 before the Vikings went on a 12-3 run and tied the game at 19-19 on Deshler’s layup with 5:11 left in the first half. Lisowe scored eight points during that run.

Stevens Point regained the lead on Bandow’s layup and led 26-21 at the half.

The Pointers took command of the game in the early portion of the second half. Stevens Point went on a 14-0 run to take a 48-27 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining.

Lawrence never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
