Fast start shoots Lake Forest past Lawrence

The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team got off to a fast start Friday and posted a 79-37 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at Alexander Gymnasium.

Lake Forest (9-9, 8-6 MWC) scored the game’s first 15 points and raced out to a 31-point halftime lead at 48-17. The Foresters would go on to lead by as many as 45 points in the second half.

Danielle Canulli came off the bench to lead Lake Forest with 15 points. Sam Schuring added 14 points for the Foresters, and Gina Ambrose pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Alex Deshler paced Lawrence (1-18, 1-13) with 13 points and six rebounds. Amber Lisowe added 11 points for the Vikings.

Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Illinois College at Alexander Gymnasium.
