Lawrence University women’s tennis star Beth Larson broke the school’s career wins record on Sunday as the Vikings routed Edgewood College 9-0 in a nonconference match.
Larson picked up career win No. 67, which pushed her past Anita Salzberger. Salzberger had piled up 66 wins between 1987-90. Larson, a two-time Midwest Conference No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles champion, broke the record with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Edgewood’s Shae Beckwith.
Larson also has 21 victories on the 2011-12 season, and that ties the school season record of Linda Tomtshak. Tomtshak picked up 21 wins while playing No. 1 singles in 1985.
The match also marked the debuts of freshmen Allison Juda and Elena Watson. Juda and Watson played No. 3 doubles and posted an 8-3 win over Carolyn Lorenz and Jessi Ditzler.recap
