CLERMONT, Fla. — The Williams College softball team jumped out to a big early lead and went on to an 11-3 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Monday.
The Ephs pounded out 13 hits and broke a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the second inning. Williams added another run in the third and two more in the fifth.
Lawrence (2-3) scored single runs in the first, third and fifth but was limited to only four hits. Alissa Geipel led the Vikings by going 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Cory Paquette had a double for Lawrence, and Cathy Kaye picked up the other hit.
Ally Ensor went the distance to get the win, and she struck out four and walked two. Shannon Murray went two innings and took the loss.
