Lawrence University women’s tennis standout Gayatri Malhotra kept her perfect singles record intact this season and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Malhotra (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Verrado)¬†posted a 3-0 record at No. 3 doubles and went 2-0 at No. 3 singles during the past week.
In a 5-4 victory over Carthage College, Malhotra beat Erin Hendrickson 6-4, 6-2. She also teamed with Polly Dalton for an 8-6 victory in doubles.¬†Malhotra defeated Aimee Neilan 6-3, 6-2, in an 8-1 victory over Knox Colleg and teamed with Dalton for an 8-3 doubles victory over the Prairie Fire. Malhotra finished her week with an 8-2 doubles victory over Marian University, and that was part of Lawrence’s 9-0 victory over the Sabres.
Malhotra, who also was honored as the MWC Player of the Week on Oct. 5, 2010, is now 5-0 in singles and improved to 3-1 in doubles with Dalton.
Lawrence is 4-2 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts UW-Stevens Point.
