Vikings split on opening day of UW-Oshkosh Classic

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Lawrence University volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic.

In the first match of the day, Wisconsin Lutheran College defeated the Vikings 25-22, 26-24, 21-25, 27-25. Lawrence evened its record for the day with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-19, 28-26 victory over Carroll University.

Against Wisconsin Lutheran, Shannon McLain and Kayla Storm paced the Vikings (5-4) with 14 kills apiece. Megan Conley and Betsy Sorensen added six kills apiece.

Diane McLeod led Lawrence with 36 assists and added 12 digs. Kathleen Rowland had a team-high 17 digs, and Storm added 14 and Anna Wawiorka had 12. 

Storm led Lawrence with 13 kills and McLain added 12 against Carroll. McLeod paced the Vikings with 31 assists and she picked up 17 digs. Rowland had a team-high 25 digs, and Storm added 14.

Lawrence wraps up the tournament on Saturday with matches against UW-La Crosse and Martin Luther College.
