WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University women’s basketball team jumped out to an 18-1 lead and rolled to a 91-38 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University on Tuesday at Van Male Field House.
Emily DeNoyer scored 19 points to lead four Carroll players in double figures. Kelly Menden added 14 points and was perfect on the night. She went 5-for-5 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the foul line.
Julia Piech and Kayla Smithback added 10 points apiece for the Pioneers (3-2, 2-0 MWC).
Freshman Patsy Kealey led Lawrence (0-5, 0-4) with 11 points and five rebounds.
It was DeNoyer’s layup with 14:11 left in the first half that gave Carroll an 18-1 lead. The Vikings got their first field goal of the game on Andrea Wilkinson’s layup with 13:36 left in the first half. Kealey followed with a 3-pointer to trim the lead to 21-6.
Lawrence didn’t hit double figures until the 3:46 mark of the first half, and Carroll would lead by as many as 38 points in the first half.
The Pioneers, who lead 50-12 at the break, would lead by as many as 57 points in the second half.
