MADISON, Wis. — A penalty kick in the 58th minute proved to be the difference as the Edgewood College women’s soccer team downed Lawrence University 2-1 in a nonconference match on Wednesday at Breese Stevens Field.
Jenna Mineau broke a 1-1 tie when she coverted a penalty kick for the Eagles (9-2-1) at 57:58.
Edgewood had grabbed a 1-0 lead just 2:45 into the match when Jennifer Dailey scored. That lead didn’t last long as Casey Merkle scored off a cross from Anita Babbitt at the 4:05 mark.
Tori Fortney made two saves to pick up the win for Edgewood, which had a 12-4 advantage in shots. Dani Glass stopped five shots for the Vikings.
