EVANSTON, Ill. — The Lawrence University fencing teams both posted winning records at the Northwestern Duals on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lawrence men went 9-1, and the women finished with an 8-2 mark.
The Lawrence men defeated Iowa 19-8 and then took down Wisconsin 18-9. Lawrence picked up a 15-12 win over Minnesota and also scored wins over Big Ten schools Michigan (14-13), Michigan State (16-11), Purdue (15-12) and Indiana (18-9). Lawrence also posted a 22-5 win over Bradley and an 18-9 victory over the University of Chicago. The lone blemish on the day was a 16-11 loss to host Northwestern.
On the women’s side, Lawrence scored victories over Iowa (19-8), Wisconsin (21-6), Minnesota (24-3), Michigan State (19-8), Purdue (16-11), Indiana (19-8) and Bradley (22-5). Northwestern (26-1) and Chicago (16-11) all picked up wins over the Vikings.
