Lawrence women grab fourth at University of Chicago Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill. — Taylor Winter and Paige Witter both swam to second-place finishes to pace the Lawrence University women’s swim team at the University of Chicago Invitational this weekend.

The Lawrence women finished fourth in the team standings with 380 points. The University of Chicago won the title with 947 points. On the men’s side, Lawrence finished seventh with 147 points, and Chicago was first with 981.

Winter took second in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:19.00 and also took third in the 500 freestyle in 5:20.90. Witter grabbed second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.71, and she took fifth in the 200 butterfly in 2:20.70.

Other top finishers for the Vikings included Hayley Cardinal (fourth, 100 breaststroke, 1:10.10), Hannah Gabriel (fifth, 200 freestyle, 2:02.89) and Emily Flack (fifth, 100 backstroke, 1:02.89).

Charlie Mann had the top finish on the men’s side as he took eighth in the 200 backstroke in 2:10.50, and the 200 freestyle relay team was seventh in 1:31.59.
