Second-ranked Pointers top Lawrence

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The second-ranked UW-Stevens Point hockey team pulled out to a big lead after two periods and went on to a 7-2 nonconference victory over Lawrence University on Friday night at Willett Arena.

The Pointers (12-1-0) scored less than two minutes into the game and went on to build a 3-0 lead after the first period. Stevens Point added two more goals in the second period to construct a 5-0 edge.

Lawrence (4-9-1) got third-period goals from freshman forward Blake Roubos and senior forward Huck Saunders. Patrick Coyne assisted on both goals for the Vikings, and Roubos also picked up an assist on Saunders’ tally.

Max Bobrow scored a pair of goals for the Pointers, and Tyler Krueger had three assists.

Brandon Jaeger stopped 30 shots to pick up the win for Stevens Point. Anton Olsson stopped 41 shots for the Vikings in the loss.
