APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University softball standout Kara Vance has been named the Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Vance (Racine, Wis./Park) picked up the honor after making her first three appearances of the season on Lawrence’s spring break trip to Florida. Vance posted a 2-1 record with a 0.93 earned run average in 15 innings.
Vance got her first win of the season with two innings of hitless relief in Lawrence’s 8-7 comeback win over SUNY-Fredonia this past Friday. The junior right-hander also went the distance, allowing six hits and one run, in Lawrence’s 3-1 victory over Bethel (Minn.) University on Saturday.
In Vance’s only loss thus far this season, she tossed a gem against SUNY-Geneseo on Friday. She went the distance and allowed only five hits and one earned run in a 2-1 loss.
Lawrence wraps up its spring break trip on Friday and opens play “up north” on April 3 at Elmhurst College.
