Roubos, Wiener take consolation title at No. 3 doubles

MADISON, Wis. — The doubles team of Blake Roubos and Sam Wiener took the consolation title in the No. 3 flight during Sunday’s Midwest Conference Championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Grinnell College won the team championship, and Lawrence finished eighth with 25 points.

The No. 2 team of David Jumes and Adam Busch were eliminated in the championship quarterfinals, and the No. 1 team of Brian DeCorte and Jeremy Andereck reached the consolation finals.

After a loss in the championship quarterfinals, Roubos and Wiener came back to post an 8-2 win over a team from Ripon College and then beat Cornell College’s Hiro Harada and Nolan Schillerstrom 8-6 in the consolation final.
