Vikings win top three singles matches but come up short against Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa — The Cornell College men’s tennis team topped Lawrence University 6-3 in a nonconference match on Friday.

Lawrence picked up all three of its wins in singles as the Vikings swept the top three flights. Brian DeCorte was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at No. 1. Freshman David Jumes split the first two sets, 7-5, 4-6 at No. 2 and then took the match by winning the super tiebreaker 10-5. Lawrence’s Jeremy Andereck also split the first two sets at No. 3 by the scores of 6-7, 6-0 before winning the super tiebreaker 10-7.
